Unity-Payson Football
Parents Meeting July 19th, 2009 Cathy
informed the group that she has opened an account at First Bankers Trust for
this group. There was a $1,480.83 initial deposit put into the account.
Kelly Zanger is the approved Payson signer, Cathy Wittler is the Unity signer,
and Debbie Dodd is the Treasurer for the group. We were given some
temporary checks and both signers will have a debit card. There is also
$100 in a petty cash box, Mary Cramm turned in $157 and Kelly Zanger has $19.
Mary purchased prizes for football toss. Receipts
were received. The
tunnel was ordered by Seth Klusmeyer using funds from the athletic club
earmarked for football and should be in next week. Cathy found out that we
still have around $1500 in that account. Kelly and Hilary will do the
stenciling on the tunnel, but need plastic cardboard. Hilary will check
into getting. Matt
Woodworth was not present but left information on the Adams County Fair.
We can get a spot by the teen dance for our snow cone machine and football toss.
Cost is as follows: Booth site $250, garbage pickup $70, electric $35,
water $40, and insurance $150. The fair starts Thursday July 30th
and runs through Wednesday Aug 5rd. We also will have a booth
set up inside one of the buildings for our raffle tickets and other items to
sell. Both these will need to be manned and everyone needs to sign up for
their work schedule. A signup sheet is at school during football
practices. Cheerleaders
can help at this also. Chris
Huckstep reported on the Kelly
Zanger reported on information on the Payson Old Settler’s. This will be
held Friday Aug 7th and Saturday Aug 8th. We will be
selling raffle tickets and doing some small games that she is putting together.
Raffle items include a 32” flat screen HD TV and a WII. She is still
working on getting a laptop computer. Prices will be $2 each or 3 for $5.
We discussed whether the boys would participate in the parade, their choice was
no, but Coach Asbury would like them to be in it. All boys need to contact
Kelly to sign up to work here. We realize that it is the same time as the We
found out that during our second home game on Sept 18th, the school
is recognizing the 1989 football team. It is their 20 year reunion and
this team only lost one game all season. We will try to do something
around this. Cathy
reported that she had talked to Debbie
Dodd reported on information on blankets and hats. Landmark will do the
fleece blankets for $10.75 each, the waterproof backed blankets for $14.75 each,
hats for $6-9 each. There would be a one-time $50 set-up charge.
They could have items available in two weeks but we must pay for them at time of
pickup. Ted’s shirt shack would do the fleece blankets in a case for
$22-23 each and hats for $12-15 each. We would not have to pay for these
immediately. We also discussed what logo to use and would like to use the
one on the website using the rearing horse instead of the running horse.
Cathy will get this approved with Mr. Dorothy. The group decided to do
order forms instead, sell ahead of time and try to have delivered for the first
home game on Sept 4th. Debbie will put together a form and send
to Cathy and Angie. These will also be put out on the website. We
will be selling blankets, hats, shirts both short and long sleeve, and
sweatshirts. The
helmet signs were brought up again as no resolution was made last month.
These will be put on hold again until we see what type of fence is to be put up
around the football field. The current fence was taken down when the new
lights were put up. The
bells were also revisited as we did not discuss last month. Cost is $14
per dozen with a min. 6 dz order. They will already be painted maroon.
We will sell them for $2 each. It was decided to hand these out to all who
will be participating (kids) in the cheer camp. Angie Walsh is to make
stickers to put on the bells. The
group would like to purchase duffel bags for the football team. These will
be property of the team not individual players, so will be reused each year.
We would like to get 40 bags and put luggage tags or numbers on them for
identification. We will continue to raise funds towards this purchase.
Debbie Dodd will call Ted’s Shirt Shack and Landmark for prices.
These were purchased two years ago from Ted’s. Cathy
brought a helmet in to display the names that can be added to the back.
For 30 helmets the cost would be around $50. The group approved this
expense pending approval from Coach Asbury. Cathy will talk to him. Reminders
–
Everyone
needs to start stockpiling Gatorade to turn in to the coaches. Angie
Walsh is trying to put together a listing of emails and preferred phone numbers
for all players parents. If you have not seen this, please get a hold of
her or Cathy. This will help in getting information out to parents
quickly. This
will be the last week of evening practices. Weights will be done next
week, and practice officially starts the 12th.
