Football Parents Meeting

Held at Madison Park Christian Church at 5:00 p.m.

Discussions

New equipment purchased for Payson and Unity weight rooms.  Coach Asbury looking into purchasing more equipment.

 

Weight Lifting Power Meet will be held on March 21st in Carney, MO.  Coach Asbury will be taking anyone interested in competing.  Payson Booster Club will be helping with entry fees and meal money.  Football parents also offered money to help with fees and meals.  Transportation will be provided.  There will also be another meet on May 30th in Louisiana , MO.  See Coach Asbury for additional information and entry forms.

 

Weight lifting records were announced for both Payson and Unity players.  All doing well with lifting.  However, coach would like to see more players in weight room.  Emphasizing the fact that the more conditioned the players are the chances of injuries decreased.

 

Fundraisers were discussed.  It was decided that the group will sell Krispy Kreme donuts during Gus Macker.  Last year we did well selling donuts and coffee and hopefully this year will be no different.  We will also be taking orders for donuts.  Look for order forms in early May.  We also agreed on selling discount cards starting in August.  These are the cards that give discounts from local businesses.  These two fundraisers were voted on and accepted by the group present.  Other fundraiser ideas that were mentioned:  selling blankets with logo, Debbie Dodd looking into this idea, heated seat cushions, Deb Guthrie on this project. 

 

A raffle with smaller items as prizes was discussed.  Items like flat screen TV, laptop computer, football tickets, Wii system were all mentioned.  This was tabled until next meeting, but keep thinking about raffle ideas and prizes.

 

One of the items we are trying to purchase this year with fundraising money is maroon equipment bags.  Some of the players already have maroon equipment bags, however would like to be able to purchase maroon equipment for all players.

 

Half-time fund raising game.  Selling tennis balls with numbers and at half-time balls are tossed onto field and whoever gets closes to target wins the 50/50 raffle.  Another good idea was having a field goal contest.  Winner could possibly win a $10 gift card from Casey’s.   These are all great ideas for fundraising.  A committee was formed Kelly Zanger and Gail Mast will be handling the half-time festivities.  Thanks girls J

 

A tunnel will be built for the players to enter onto the field through.  David and Aaron Wittler will be handling the construction of the tunnel.  Anyone interested in helping contact David. 

 

We need to start stocking up on Gatorade or PowerAde drinks for the players.  Coach Asbury said any brand of drink is fine as long as it does not have caffeine and is not carbonated.

 

We still need to have menus created for pregame dinners for team.  If menus are created in advance it would make it easier to prepare and share this responsibility.  Suggestions from coach on meals pasta or sandwiches.  A Food Committee may have to be assembled to tackle this project. 

 

We will be purchasing field paint in advance this year.  Paint will be on hand and available.  As season gets closer we will need to assemble a group of volunteers to paint and maintain field for home games. 

 

The 2009 football schedule was handed out.  If you did not receive one at the meeting or are interested in receiving one contact anyone on the above list.

 

Next meeting will be held at Madison Park Christian Church on Sunday April 19, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.  We will not be having a carry-in.
