September 9, 2009 Update We have begun our 2009 Football Season. We all have worked very hard to support our football team. However, we are not done yet. I have some house cleaning items I need to address and some important information to pass along.
E-Mail Address If you know of anyone who is not receiving e-mails please let me know. This list was created this year and is still a work in progress. Also, if you are receiving e-mails in error please let me know I will make the appropriate adjustments. This list has proven to be the best way to communicate with everyone.
Selling T-Shirts and Tennis Ball 50/50 I am sure most of you have noticed our group selling Unity Payson Football apparel at the games. The majority of our apparel was ordered, however, we did order a small amount to sell at games for those fans that did not have access to order forms. During JV home games, on Monday nights, would like to have a varsity parent/parents help sell the apparel and on Fridays during varsity home games would like to have a JV parent/parents man the apparel table. We have 3 home varsity games and 7 home JV games left on the schedule. This is a way we can help each other out so we all get to see our players play and cheerleaders cheer.
Tennis Ball Raffle has been a BIG success. The money raised though this 50/50 goes towards game day meals. The cheerleaders have asked to run the 50/50 during JV games. This gives them an opportunity to raise some desperately needed funds for their program. However, we still have 3 home varsity games and need 3 sets of parents/adults, for each game, to run the game during half-time. All that is required is 20 minutes before half-time grab tennis balls and clip board and off you go into the crowd selling tennis balls for $1.00. This 50/50 seems to be a crowd pleaser and everyone has a lot of fun too.
Program I want to send out a broadcast apology to any player or cheerleader whose name or number was printed incorrectly in our program. During the short period of time we have to sell, proof, and print the programs it is sometimes impossible to get everything correct. Not to mention the last minute glitches, those are difficult to foresee. Efforts were made to ensure accuracy, yet some did get by us. Please accept my apologies. Please keep in mind pictures, rosters, programs, website development and maintenance, field decorations, and promotional items are all done through volunteer efforts.
Meal Schedule I have attached a copy of the meal schedule. We are in desperate need of three (3) parents who are interested in doing September 11th varsity meal. No one has signed up to prepare this meal and time is running out. If anyone is interested please let myself or Kelly Zanger know. Remember we supply paper goods and $$$ for meals.
Receipts If you have received money for meals please summit receipts for food purchases to Debbie Dodd. She is our Treasurer and has done a great job keeping our finances all on track.
Thursday Night Family Meals We had a great turn out for our first family meal. I think Thursday’s meal had the most attendance since we started doing family meals last year. The support for the players and cheerleaders really showed. The next Thursday Night Family Meal will be pasta. Gatorade will be provided to players and cheerleaders. It has been shown that pasta 24 hours in advance is beneficial to athletes.
It probably seems like I am asking for a lot of volunteer time. Yes, I am but our season is short and we only have a small window of opportunity to raise funds for the football players and cheerleaders. Any time you can offer will be greatly appreciated by the coaches, players, cheerleaders, and other parents.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are all doing this to support the Unity Payson Football Team and Cheerleaders. I couldn’t think of a better cause than our kids :)
